Botanical Artist
As a botanical artist I work with flowers and natural materials to create installations rooted in emotion. Paying homage to mother nature, I create natural and organic designs. Inspired by the seasons.
Recent installations explore the Healing Power of Mother Nature with themes surrounding beauty in imperfection and personal transformation.
The Cocoon
Just as a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly upon emerging from its cocoon, this design symbolizes the inner transformation that can take place through healing and personal growth. The cocoon is layered with honesty seed heads, whose weathered outer shells conceal a soft, luminous, pearlescent surface beneath. This contrast reflects the beauty that can emerge through vulnerability, healing, and self-discovery.
Much like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, growth cannot be rushed or carried out by another. The struggle of pushing through the narrow opening is essential, allowing the wings to strengthen and unfold before flight. In the same way, healing is a journey that must ultimately be faced from within. Through this process, there is an opportunity to release past pain and emerge more whole and transformed.
The flowers incorporated into this design are hellebores and pansies. Hellebores were chosen for their symbolism of transformation and rebirth. As some of the first flowers to bloom in late winter and early spring, they represent the cycle of renewal and the promise of new beginnings. Their ability to endure snow and frost makes them enduring symbols of resilience, perseverance, and quiet strength.Beauty in Imperfection
The cracks and flaws woven through the branches of this design reflect the beauty found within imperfection. Flowers blooming from these fractures symbolise the strength that emerges through vulnerability, reminding us that openness is not weakness, but courage. Like light entering through a crack, vulnerability creates space for growth, healing, and transformation.
In a world shaped by expectations of what is considered normal or acceptable, feelings of inadequacy and not belonging can take root. These experiences often challenge self-acceptance, leaving many disconnected from their own worth.
The flowers blossoming from the cracks celebrate these perceived imperfections. They represent the journey of healing, reflection, and self-compassion, encouraging the embrace of every part of oneself. Rather than concealing differences, the design honours them as pathways to unconditional self-love.
Among the flowers are primroses, chosen for their ability to bloom through snow and harsh conditions. Long associated with resilience, renewal, compassion, and healing, they serve as a reminder that beauty can emerge from adversity. Their presence reinforces the enduring strength found in self-acceptance and growth.
